Alison Cassidy is a living treasure of a yoga teacher in my estimation. I encourage all who are curious about living consciously to share her joy and embrace the challenges she offers through yoga – it is a rich opportunity on your doorstep. Alison Cassidy has encouraged and facilitated my yoga practice for almost 15 years. Each class is offered generously, creatively and reflects her deep knowledge of all aspects of traditional and contemporary yoga practice. Each class offers depth and challenge on the level that I am ready to work at on that day – somehow it is always what I need and that is probably why I keep returning. Her teaching is light – intuitive and inspiring. It doesn’t drag you along – it lifts you high and encourages patience and acceptance with where you are in the moment. She is on her own personal journey into yoga and she has absorbed the wisdom that comes of many years of dedicated practice. But she is that rare and delightful thing for me – a gifted and serious teacher who shares with a sense of irreverence and fun. Her classes are a joy, a gift to myself every week in the beautiful and endlessly surprising space that is her Kumbada Studio. This is the sanctuary that Alison has created for all who come. And she recreates it from week to week– with colour, music and sound, themes from nature and her boundlessly creative sensibility.

Yoga at Kumbada with Alison offers a deeply personal experience. Her direction as facilitator is never invasive or autocratic. It allows all in the class the freedom to participate at an individual pace and level without any sense of competition. Alison’s sensitivity and restraint draws the student towards doorways of the soul that invite entry without fear of intrusion or the distraction of unsought chatty companionship.
